Environment EMAS

EMAS stands for ‘Eco Management and Audit Scheme’. This is the name of a European Union regulation requiring member states to introduce a system giving organizations the opportunity to acquire the rights to use a European ‘environment logo’. The condition is that an organization has an environmental management system in place and draws up an annual environmental statement. Both the system and the report must be validated by an EMAS verifier. Participation in the EMAS regulation is voluntary. SCCM is the appointed competent body for EMAS in the Netherlands.
